“Vintage” Grapes

Embroidery seemed like the perfect kind of project for me, so I gave it a shot. It was enjoyable, super fun even!

This was done freehand, based on my own drawing. The shading is done with crayons to give it a cute vintage look, and it is displayed framed in a hoop. I was pleased with the outcome!

Attempted close up of the stitching.

Grapes Close Up

I used a split stitch on the grapes, stem stitch for the leaves, satin stitch for the stem, and back stitch for other details. The border is an interlaced running stitch. My stem stitch really needs some work, but overall I think it came nice.

It was a mother’s day gift for my Mother in Law, she loved it!! It is now hanging in her kitchen (next to various other grape-themed decoratives). I’m now working on my next embroidery project, a mother’s day gift for my own Mother (of course). I will leave you in suspense until it is finished.

Happy stitching to everyone!
